In late 2022, Senal made a life-changing decision.
He left behind the comfort of a stable 9–5 job to pursue a dream that had been quietly growing for years — to build a restaurant that reimagined Sri Lankan food for a new generation.
With no investors, no local network, and no plan B, he began the journey alongside his siblings, Samoda and Donita. Together, they envisioned more than just a restaurant; they wanted to create a space where authenticity, creativity, and connection could thrive.
After months of late-night planning, recipe testing, and endless conversations around their shared table, Little Ceylon opened its doors on October 31st, 2024, in Nugegoda, Sri Lanka.
Each sibling brought their unique strengths to the dream.
And somewhere between the clatter of pans and the laughter of guests, Nipuni, their neighbor’s dog, became the unofficial mascot — a loyal companion and enthusiastic taste tester.
Little Ceylon was born from family, built on discipline, and guided by love for Sri Lankan food. What began as a small idea has grown into a celebration of resilience, creativity, and community.
As of October 2025, Little Ceylon celebrates its first year.
The vision remains the same: to serve food made with intent, to honor heritage through innovation, and to bring people together — one meal, one memory, and one story at a time.
